The N90 Hilux is fresh off the production line and one of the first we’ve built on. The brief was a setup that works through the week and still travels well on the weekend. Plenty of secure storage, easy access, and the flexibility to strip it back to an open tray when the load calls for it.

That’s exactly what an 1800mm tray and matching 1800mm lift-off canopy delivers. The canopy handles the day-to-day storage, and when there’s something big or awkward to shift, it lifts off and leaves a full-length aluminium deck behind.

Why this build works

The lift-off design is the clever bit. Most of the year the canopy can stay on and do the hard work. It’s sealed, lockable storage that opens wide from either side, so nothing ends up buried at the front. When there’s a trailer to load or a pallet to shift, the jack-off points give you back a bare 1800mm tray.

The flush floor and uni-strut channels mean this build isn’t finished, it’s ready. Drawers, a fridge slide, shelving or a 12V package can go in later without cutting or drilling.

Up top, the tradesman roof rack takes the ladders and long lengths that shouldn’t be inside, and the rear foldable ladder makes getting to them quick and safe. The 35L headboard water tank is the small addition that earns its keep every time. A wash-up after a job, or a rinse-off before the drive home.
